• Identification of the association between dust emission and evoved stellar populations in nearby galaxies using data from the Herschel Space Observatory
• Analysis of the infrared to submillimeter dust spectral energy distributions of nearby spiral galaxies using data from the Herschel Space Observatory, Spitzer Space Telescope, and James Clerk Maxwell Telescope, including the identification of anomalous submillimeter radiation
• Identification of the correlation between mid-infrared emission from polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and both cold dust and molecular gas using data from the Spitzer Space Telescope and James Clerk Maxwell Telescope
• Characterization of the distribution of dust emission in nearby galaxies and the link to stellar morphology using data from the Spitzer Space Telescope

Primary research activities

• Identification of the relation between dust emission and stellar populations using data from the Herschel Space Observatory and Planck
• Pioneering analyses using ALMA to detect millimetre hydrogen recombination line and free-free continuum emission from dust-obscured starbursts and to use these results to examine the efficacy of other star formation metrics
• Identification of stellar populations associated with the excitation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in nearby galaxies using data from the Spitzer Space Telescope and Herschel Space Observatory
• Studies of the spectral energy distributions of gravitationally-lensed galaxies using data from ALMA and the Herschel Space Observatory
• Derivation of flux calibration and development of photometry techniques for the Herschel-SPIRE instrument
